Description
Moat Barn and Granary Barn are two houses that were formerly barns, built in the late 18th century and converted into dwellings around 1980. They are timber framed and feature 20th-century weatherboard cladding, rebuilt brick plinths, old tile roofs, and 20th-century brick chimneys. The buildings are arranged in an L-shape, with one storey and an attic.
Moat Barn consists of five bays, with the central bay having a gabled projection that was originally a cart entry but has been rebuilt in brick and timber, now containing a door flanked by glazed panels. The flanking bays have catslide projections, each featuring two 20th-century single lights. The right bay includes two additional single lights and a garage, while the left bay has four skylights.
Granary Barn is slightly lower and has a hipped roof with a hexagonal louvred turret at the right end. It features five 20th-century rectangular lights, two tall narrow windows to the right, and an off-centre door. There are rebuilt brick projections of one storey at the right end. The rear of the building has 20th-century barred wooden casements and a gabled projection near the left end. Inside, there are slender queen strut trusses and braced tie beams.
