Description
The Church of St Leonard is a small 14th-century chapel that was enlarged and restored in 1884, with the nave lengthened in 1911. It is constructed of knapped flint with stone dressings. The original chapel now serves as the chancel, while the eastern part of the nave is also from the earlier period. The 19th-century additions include the nave, north aisle, and a south-west porch or tower featuring a parapet and a tiled pyramid spire. Inside, there is a 15th-century arch-braced roof in the chancel supported by carved corbels, and part of the nave roof is also from the 15th century. The church contains a 17th-century carved pulpit, altar rails, communion tables, and stained glass. Additionally, there are 16th-century brasses and two monuments dedicated to the Cheyne family.
