Description

71 and 73 Church Street are narrow 18th century buildings located on the north side of the street. The right section, made of colourwashed brick, features a single window with a lattice casement and a doorhood supported by cut brackets. The main block, dating from the 19th century, is constructed of plum-coloured brick and has a mansard roof covered with old tiles. The buildings are one storey high with attics, and they include four nearly flush-set sash windows with glazing bars, all positioned under cambered relieving arches. There are two doorways, each adorned with Doric pilasters, a frieze, a cornice, and doors set in reveals. A corbelled brick cornice and six gabled casement dormers complete the design. Numbers 63 to 73 form a cohesive group.
