Description
Rupert Lodge and Gateway to Wycombe Abbey is an early 19th-century building designed by James Wyatt as one of the entrances to Wycombe Abbey. It is in the Neo Gothic style and constructed from ashlar stone, featuring battlemented parapets and screen walls. The lodge includes a single-storey north wing with a porch and a two-storey south wing that has an octagonal turret, along with a modern brick and Welsh slate addition. The structure has thick pointing with flint garretting. The gateway features a four-centred chamfered arch beneath a panel displaying an achievement of arms, with smaller similar arches on either side. There are buttresses, with the inner pair having offsets, and a short screen wall connects the lodge to a long north-west curving screen wall that includes two turrets.
