Description

The well house, dating from the 19th century, is located to the west of the Manor House in Chenies Village. It has an octagonal shape, with brick piers that support an old tiled roof. The open bays have been infilled with modern casements. The floor features concentric rings of brick paviors surrounding a 15th-century well shaft that has a rubble stone lining. The horse-driven pumping machinery is largely intact, and there is a 19th-century lead-lined water storage tank in the roof space.
