Description
Nos. 3 and 5 Missenden Road are 19th-century cottages rebuilt in a style sympathetic to local traditions, with a date of 1881 indicated on the south-west gable. The construction is of flint rubble with red brick dressings, and the roof is tiled and slate, with a mansard design. The cottages are two storeys with attics, featuring two gabled casement dormers. The front elevation has three casement windows with diamond lattice glazing, each set beneath a cambered relieving arch, and a single soldier arch. A wing on the right side is constructed of red brick, likely concealing earlier timber framework, and is covered by an old tiled roof. This wing has one storey and an attic, with two casement windows and a gabled dormer, all featuring diamond lattice glazing. The buildings are included on the list for their group value, forming a visual unity with Nos. 2 to 6 (even) and Nos. 10 to 14 (even) Missenden Road.
