Description

Denner Hill Farmhouse, with attached outbuildings to the south, is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the late 18th century and an extension around 1800. The building is arranged in an L-plan. The front wing of the house is constructed of flint with brick dressings, featuring a hipped old tile roof and a central brick chimney with attached shafts, likely from the 17th century. It stands two storeys high and has two bays. The ground floor includes tripartite barred sashes with segmental heads, while the first floor has 4-pane sashes. There is a blind window in the centre of the first floor above a later porch made of local Denner Hill stone. This porch has a shallow gable, a lead roof, and a 20th-century door with a radiating semi-circular fanlight.

To the left, there is a 1918 extension of one bay, also made of Denner Hill stone. The rear wing, added around 1800, is built of coursed Denner Hill stone with a hipped old tile roof, some of which features chamfered stone eaves. The east side has an outshot that has been altered at the right end, with board doors leading to former coal and wood sheds. The west side, facing the farmyard, has two two-storey bays on the left with 6-pane sashes, a board door in between, and a boxed 4-pane sash in the centre of the first floor. The lower left window has been altered to a 20th-century casement. The ground floor openings have slightly cambered stone heads, with the left bearing the initials 'ET' and the right 'DE'. The stable bays to the right feature rectangular openings with similar heads on both the ground floor and loft, a tall central opening, and a lower gabled projection for a harness room and chaff store to the right. Inside the house, the upper storey has barrel vaulted ceilings.
