Description
Nos 26 and 34 on High Street are a pair of 17th-century cottages that have been altered. They face the street and feature a central carriageway that leads to Crown Court. The ground floors are made of red brick, while the first floors are timber framed with colour washed brick nogging and an old tiled roof. There are exposed timber corbels supporting the central carriageway. On the ground floor, there are four casement windows with cambered relieving arches, along with a modern oriel window on the right. The first floor has three two-light lattice casements with wooden mullions, two of which have transoms, and a later three-light casement with glazing bars on the left. The cottages also have cut bracketed doorhoods. A flint wall is present in the carriageway on the west side. Nos 24 to 26 and No 34 form a group.
