Description
Manor Cottage is a house that was once a mill house, dating from the 16th to early 17th century. It features a timber frame with thin brick infill, some of which is arranged in a herringbone pattern. The right gable is roughcast, while the rear is rendered and whitewashed. The cottage has a flint plinth and a half-hipped roof covered with old tiles, which includes a large H-plan chimney made of thin brick located between the left bays, with the left shaft partially rebuilt. There is also a later roughcast chimney at the right end.
The building is two storeys high and consists of three bays. It has irregular casements, mostly with wooden glazing bars, and the first floor includes some leaded lights. On the ground floor, there is a 4-pane sash window in the centre, with a blocked original window immediately to the left. The entrance features a lobby with a board door and a 20th-century gabled timber porch. To the left, there is a narrow extension made of flint and brick, along with a later outshot at the rear of the left half. Inside, the cottage has stop-chamfered spine beams, diagonal braces, and diagonal wind-braces.
