Description
Holmer Farmhouse is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It features colourwashed render, with the upper storey showing concealed timber framing and the ground floor mostly rebuilt in brick. The right gable has tile-hanging below a half-hip. The roof is covered with plain tiles. A notable chimney is located at the centre of the right wing, which has six diagonal shafts made of thin brick with offset heads. The building has a T-plan layout, with a cross wing that projects to the right. It is two storeys high and has three bays. The windows are 20th-century barred wooden casements, with a three-light window in the right bay and on the ground floor left, and a two-light window in the first floor of the left bays, set in semi-dormers with tile-hung gables. There is a 20th-century door and a gabled porch in the centre bay. To the left, a former stable, now weatherboarded, is part of the house. There is a small brick lobby with a 20th-century door to the right. Inside, the upper storey of the left bays reveals timber framing with angle bracing, while the centre bay features a pair of curved wind-braces.
