Description
Chenies Chapel, a Baptist chapel built between 1773 and 1778, was enlarged to its current front in 1799, with rear additions made in the 19th century. The chapel is constructed of brick and features a hipped slate roof. The side elevations have two stages of segmental arched windows, while the front consists of three bays with round arched windows on two storeys. There is a central door with a porch added in 1838 and a round arched doorway. The front bay dates from 1799, with two additional bays from the 1770s. A vestry is located at the rear. Inside, the chapel has a gallery on three sides with a fielded panelled front supported by turned wood columns, with two cast iron columns added in 1929. The vestry contains early 19th-century wall benches, and the roof features king post trusses. The gallery is dated 1779, and there is a date of 1799 on the wall of the south bay.
