Description

Mopes Farmhouse is a house dating primarily to the 16th century, with a central range and a rear wing, and later additions. It is timber-framed with brick infill, and has brick-clad wings. The central two-bay section projects, with gabled wings extending from each side. The roof is tiled, with timber-framing visible on the first floor and the rear wing. Modern, leaded casement windows are present. A front door is located to the right of the centre range, positioned in front of an old chimney stack inserted into the cross passage. Inside, the roof features cambered tie beams and collars, along with curved tie beam and purlin braces, and queen strut trusses. Spine beams are chamfered with run-out stops. The rear wing exhibits similar timber-framing, but lacks purlin braces. 19th and 20th century additions are found at each end of the house.
