Description
The Old Quaker House, originally known as 1, 2, and 3 Victoria Cottages, is a 16th-century building that has been converted into a single house. It features a timber-framed front and brick sides, topped with an old tile roof. The first floor overhangs, supported by beams with brackets spaced at intervals. The house is two storeys tall with an attic, and a central small barge-boarded gable rises from the wall, breaking into the roof. The first floor has four restored or modern three-light casement windows and a pair of small windows. On the ground floor, there are three small windows, including one restored three-light window and one four-light window, along with a modern door and a tripartite window. A small one-storey wing extends at a right angle on the right side, featuring a timber frame with plaster nogging and an old tile half-hipped roof, with a lean-to on the end. Inside, the ground floor room is said to contain 17th-century panelling and a carved overmantel. The garden wall, dating from the 18th century, is made of red brick with flint panels.
