Description
Shell House is a late 17th-century building constructed of brick, featuring red stretchers and blue-grey headers, topped with an old tile-hipped roof. It has a moulded brick string course at the first floor level and stands two storeys tall with an attic. The road elevation includes one dormer, while the side elevation has two dormers. A heavy timber eaves cornice with wooden corbels adorns the roofline.
The first floor has two 2-light casement windows with timber mullions and transoms, along with leaded lights. The ground floor features one 2-light casement window and a two-fold door with six fielded panels, topped by a rectangular fanlight. This door is approached by a flight of steps and is framed by brick Ionic pilasters that support a hood with carved consoles.
To the left, there is a one-storey modern addition built with matching materials, featuring a shaped gable end. Inside, the house retains an old staircase and remnants of a 17th-century overmantel.
