Description
This statue, located approximately 150 metres west of The Aviary in the grounds of Waddesdon Manor, was created around 1817 by the sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen. It is made of carved marble and depicts a nude shepherd boy sitting on a fleece atop a tree stump, holding a crook, with his dog beside him. The statue is mounted on a splayed stone pedestal that features moulded panels, a base, and a cornice.
