Description

The Old Cottage is a house dating back to the 17th century, with alterations made in the 18th and 20th centuries. The front of the building has two main bays. These bays are timber-framed with brick infill, although the rear brickwork was repointed in 1980. The ground floor front was rebuilt in the 18th century using chequer brick. The roof is tiled, reconstructed in the 20th century, and was originally thatched. A brick chimney is located on the left side of the building. The house has one storey and an attic. The windows are 20th-century casements, with leaded glass on the ground floor and in gabled eaves-line dormers above. An 18th-century brick extension of one bay is situated to the left, featuring a hipped tile roof and a 20th-century board door. A further 20th-century bay is on the right, with a leaded casement window. Inside, a stop-chamfered doorframe is visible in the original left end of the house, next to the chimney.
