Description

The King William IV Public House is a public house that was documented in 1668 but was likely altered or rebuilt in the early to mid-18th century. It features chequer brick construction, a moulded plinth, and a dentilled band course at the first floor. The building has an old tiled roof and a tall central brick chimney. It stands two storeys high with a cellar and attic, originally having five bays of windows but now showing two bays. The windows are barred wooden casements with segmental heads, including a three-light window in the right bay, a single and a four-light window on the ground floor left, and a two-light window on the first floor left. There is a blocked window with an original gauged head to the right and other traces of blocked windows. A central door is set in a 19th to 20th-century gabled brick porch with a depressed arch. The right gable has paired casements in the attic. To the right, there is a single-storey extension made of brick and weatherboard. The rear of the building features a lean-to constructed of early 19th-century flint and brick, along with a central gabled bay that has stairs leading to the cellar. The interior has been altered.
