Description

The Churchyard Gate is a small roofed gateway, likely dating from the 18th century, that has been restored. It features two oak posts and a beam that support a renewed hipped roof made of boards. The gateway includes a low double gate attached to a central pivoting post. At the top of this post, there is a wooden pulley wheel with a chain linked through the northern post to a second wheel, which is connected to a large spherical iron counterweight. The gate operates with a self-closing pivot action.
