Description

The front boundary wall, piers, railings, and gates of Amersham Hospital were built in 1838 as part of the original design. The wall is made of flint with stone dressings and coping, featuring an octagonal pier at each end. The pier at the north end retains a large ogee-shaped finial. The cast iron railings are arranged in bays, separated by heavy posts that also have ogee-shaped finials. The railings are diamond-shaped in section and include finial heads. The central gates follow a similar design.
