Description
Nos 1 to 3 Cornmarket is an 18th-century building that stands two storeys high. It is constructed of brick with a tiled roof that features a gable on the left side, facing Church Square. The upper floor has an irregular arrangement of windows, including a three-light, a two-light, and a single-light casement window. The ground floor showcases 19th-century shop fronts, with a six-panel door on the right set within a doorcase that has reeded pilasters, scroll brackets, and a flat hood. The High Street elevation includes a dentil wood cornice, and the upper floor features one single-light sash window, two three-light sash windows, and a canted bay window. The ground floor, which has 19th-century and modern shop fronts, projects forward and is topped with a cornice. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 1 to 5, The Little Market House, Guildhall, premises occupied by Midland Bank, and The Falcon Hotel.
