Description

This barn, located southeast of Oakmead House, dates from the late 16th century or early 17th century. It has been reclad and features a lean-to added on the east side in the 18th century. The structure is timber-framed and covered in weatherboarding, standing on a deep brick plinth. It has a half-hipped roof made of old tiles. There are central cart entrances that are gabled on one side, along with some inserted 20th-century windows. The barn consists of three bays, with a frame made of thick scantling that includes a midrail, slightly curved windbraces, and jowled posts. The roof is a queenpost design with purlins, ogee-shaped windbraces, and pegged rafters.
