Description

This is an early 19th century house, largely the result of a refacing of an earlier building. It has a steep hipped roof covered with Welsh slate and is rendered with cement. The front facade features five windows, each with wooden mullions and transoms containing leaded glass. A six-panel flush door is set within a narrow flush-panelled surround and sheltered by a bracketed hood. The property was frequently visited by George III, who was a friend of the owner, Edmund Grove. Evidence of earlier timber framing exists within the interior. Fragments of 17th century wall painting are visible within a ground floor cupboard. A carved 18th century chimney piece, originally from Penn House (listed separately), was incorporated into a rear room during the 19th century.
