Description
This listing describes six piers located 60 meters north of Brewers Yard in Wotton Underwood. The set includes four early 18th century brick piers that were rebuilt in the 20th century, featuring 20th century cast iron railings and gates. The piers have panelled sides, moulded stone cornices and bases, and carved stone ball finials. They also include side pilasters with carved stone scroll tops. These piers mark the entrance to the north avenue, which was planted under the direction of George London. Additionally, attached to the western pier is an early 19th century ashlar pier with panelled sides, a moulded base, and cornice, along with another matching pier to the southwest.
