Description
The gates and gatepiers at the entrance to Abbey Mills Pumping Station were built around 1868, likely designed by Joseph Bazalgette. They feature three square red brick gatepiers topped with ashlar cap-stones. A pair of wrought iron gates is complemented by a subsidiary gate to the left, both adorned with elaborate scrolled and foliated ironwork at the top. These structures are listed for their group value with the main pumping station.
