Description
Hartlington Mill is a water mill that has been converted into flats, dating from the mid to late 18th century. It is constructed of ashlar and coursed squared stone, topped with a graduated stone slate roof. The building features seven bays, built into a hillside, with the four right-hand bays rising to three storeys while the others have two storeys. All windows are framed with plain stone surrounds and fitted with 20th-century casements.
On the first floor, bay 3 includes a half-glazed door accessed by 13 stone steps, alongside a small one-light window. To the left of the right-hand bay, there is another half-glazed door. The second floor has 20th-century casements in all seven bays. The mill is also notable for its three ridge stacks and a large cast-iron undershot water-wheel located on the right return.
