Description

Flasby Hall Farmhouse and the adjoining barn are structures dating from around 1670, with a refronting that occurred in the late 18th century and further alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. The buildings are constructed from slobbered squared rubble with stone dressings and feature a stone slate roof. Originally, the farmhouse had a lobby entrance, which was altered around 1890 to create a central staircase plan. The former left-hand entrance has been blocked and features a chamfered surround with a datestone above inscribed "GW 1738." The central entrance, added around 1890, has a plain surround and a six-panel door, with the upper two panels glazed.

Each storey of the farmhouse has two 18th-century windows, each consisting of three lights, recessed with flat-faced mullions, and fitted with four-pane casements and fixed lights. The eaves are adorned with modillions, and the gable ends have kneelers and coping. Gable end ridge stacks are present, and the rear of the farmhouse features a late 17th-century two-light double chamfered mullioned window on the ground floor, along with substantial additions made around 1890 and 1925.

Inside, the front left-hand room contains a massive inglenook fireplace from around 1670, which has a chamfered surround and joggled voussoirs that form a basket arch, with round-headed arches to the left and right, the left leading to the former lobby. The barn to the left of the farmhouse is slightly lower and dates from the 17th century, with 19th-century alterations. It consists of three bays and has a central segmental arched entrance with plank doors. There is a left-hand entrance with a Tudor arch and a chamfered surround, also with a plank door, while the right-hand entrance is partly blocked and has a chamfered surround with a small round-headed window. The barn's walls were raised in the late 19th century, and it was reroofed at that time.
