Description

The Hen House in Thornton in Lonsdale is an early 19th-century structure that has undergone some alterations in the 20th century. It is built of slobbered rubble with dressings of millstone grit and features a Westmorland slate roof. The entrance is located on the east gable and consists of a plank door. On the north side, there were originally four projecting slabs, but only three remain, with an entrance situated above the top step, which measures approximately 30 centimeters square. The interior roof was renewed around 1970.
