Description
The Fountaine Inn is a public house located on Linton Main Street, likely built in the mid-18th century with later alterations. The building features whitewashed rubble and a graduated stone slate roof. It is two stories high with a three-bay main range, which includes a lower two-story bay and a lean-to on the right side. The structure has quoins and a 20th-century door in a plain stone surround positioned to the right of center. The ground floor has three unequally-hung sash windows, with two to the left and one to the right of the entrance, while the first floor has three similar windows. Stone gutter brackets are present, and there are end stacks, with the left stack being corniced. The lower bay has a 20th-century door to the left, also in a plain surround, a six-pane casement window to the right, and a two-light flat-faced mullion window on the first floor. A tall banded stack is located to the right, along with a small six-pane casement in the lean-to, which has a blocked opening above. The building is included for its group value.
