Description
Grange Cottage, The Grange, and a farmbuilding, later used as a forge, were built in the early to mid-19th century. The buildings are constructed of rubble and have stone slate roofs. The arrangement is of 2, 3, and 2 bays. Grange Cottage, on the left, features quoins and a central 4-panel door set within an ashlar surround with base blocks, interrupted jambs and rounded corners to the lintel. To the left of the door is a sash window with glazing bars in an ashlar surround, and to the right is a round-arched landing window with radial glazing bars within an ashlar surround including imposts and a keystone. The Grange itself has a central part-glazed 4-panel door in an ashlar surround with base blocks. Its sash windows have glazing bars in ashlar surrounds, although the window above the door is a 4-pane sash. Shaped kneelers and ashlar coping are present on the right side. Stacks are located at the ends of the building and between the second and third bays. The farmbuilding to the right is of two lower storeys, with a board door and a 4-pane sash window on the ground floor and a board pitching door (where the external steps have been removed) and an 8-pane sash window on the first floor. A single-storey garage to the left of Grange Cottage is of no particular architectural interest.
