Description

Beecroft Hall is a former farmhouse, now unoccupied, dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with 19th-century alterations. The building is constructed of limewashed squared rubble with painted stone dressings and a stone slate roof. It has a central staircase plan and is two storeys high with two bays, plus an additional gabled bay on the left that was added in the mid-19th century.

The former central entrance features a plain surround with a four-panel door, of which the upper two panels are glazed. There are two large ground floor windows that are now boarded up but are reputed to have been three-light mullioned and transomed windows. The two upper floor windows, which were originally two-light chamfered mullioned windows, are now single lights with missing mullions and 20th-century casements. The mid-19th century window in the left-hand bay has sashes with glazing bars.

The gable end has ridge stacks, and the right-hand return wall includes three rows of throughs and a round window. The rear of the building features three rows of throughs, with former two-light chamfered mullioned windows on both the ground and upper floors now converted to single lights with missing mullions, along with a two-light chamfered mullioned stair window between the floors; all three windows have slate hoods and two-pane casements.

Inside, the hall is reputed to contain a moulded doorhead and an early 18th-century dog-leg staircase with a closed string, turned balusters, and a moulded handrail.
