Description

Buckden Bridge is a bridge over the River Wharfe, likely built in 1709 with some rebuilding in the 19th century. It is constructed from limestone rubble with ashlar quoins and coursed hammer-dressed gritstone used for the parapet. The bridge features a wide segmental central arch that is flanked by smaller arches, with pointed cutwaters that rise as recesses. The voussoirs on the downstream central arch are well cut, while those on the flanking arches are made from poorer quality stone. The parapet has rounded coping.
