Description

The kennels located to the south-west of Barbon Manor are an estate building dating from the late 19th century. Constructed from dressed snecked stone with ashlar dressings, the building features a hipped pavilion slate roof. It has two storeys on the south side and one storey on the north side due to the slope of the ground, and it comprises six bays. The structure includes quoins and a top roll moulding.

On the south facade, the first and fifth bays project, while the bays in between have a lean-to open-fronted projection. The sixth bay projects further out. The first and fifth bays have flat bands above the ground floor. The windows are framed with plain surrounds and flat mullions, featuring four-pane sashes. The ground floor has a combination of 2:2:2:4:3-light windows, while the first floor has round windows in the first and fifth bays, and two-light windows in the other bays, with the third bay having a single light. Hipped dormer windows are present in the first, second, fourth, and fifth bays, while the sixth bay has a slate-hung gablet with a light. The entrance is located in the third bay. There are two cross-axial stacks with plain caps, and the right return has a lean-to outshut.

The north facade features the first and second bays, along with the sixth bay, breaking forward, although the first bay is obscured by a later shed. The second bay has a large entrance with paired doors and two-light windows. Hipped dormers are found in the second and sixth bays, with a half-hipped dormer in the first bay. There are entrances with overlights in the fourth and sixth bays.
