Description
This is an 18th-century barn located 40 meters east of Catfield Hall. The barn consists of two sections, constructed of brick with burnt headers and topped with a thatched roof. It has a rectangular plan, with the eastern half being narrower. The north side features a gabled transept entrance and a doorway to the left, while the south side has an off-set gabled transept entrance and 20th-century sliding doors opposite the north transept. The north transept includes double doors under a segmental arch and a partly blocked window in the gable head. The roof is supported by tie beams on straight braces, with principals and two tiers of taper-tenoned butt purlins, collars, and struts from the ties to the principals. Some of the timbers have been renewed, and the gable heads display tumbling. The south transept has a tall doorway that reaches the eaves line, and the gable head is weatherboarded.
