Description

The Thatched House is a brick and thatched house, dated 1757. It is situated on The Green in Stokesby with Herringby. The house has one storey and a dormer attic, arranged over three irregular bays. Pilasters are present at the corners and between each bay. The left bay contains one casement window and one sash window. The centre bay has a casement window and a door located behind an openwork timber gabled porch, added in 1932. The right bay contains one casement window. A datestone, inscribed "I.L.R. 1757", is positioned above the window in the middle bay. The gabled roof is thatched, with two gabled dormers resting on moulded brick sills. The dormers are pantiled and feature casement windows. Internal gable end stacks are present, with the stack to the south-west having been rebuilt.
