Description
Little Hawsted is a house built in 1902 by Alfred Powell. It features an unusual design with extremely simple yet robust construction. The building has thick brick walls that are painted externally and a mansard roof covered with tiles, which includes raking dormers and eaves aligned with the ground floor window heads. The structure is a long narrow rectangle with a short middle projection that has lower half-hipped roofs. On the south side, there is a single-storeyed gabled entrance lobby that is deep. The south elevation consists of one storey and an attic, with a window arrangement of three, one, and one above two, zero, and one. The windows are casements. Inside, the decor is very plain, featuring heavy oak timbers, cills made of thick tiles, and hardwood doors.
