Description

The Old Post Office Cottage and Bookham are a pair of cottages dating back to the 17th century, with substantial alterations in the early 19th century. Their construction incorporates brickwork in both English and Flemish bonds, with a section tile-hung and the east wall rendered. The roof is tiled, featuring hipped ends, a low eavesline at the west end above a boarded outshot, and large, flat-roofed 20th-century dormers on Bookham, alongside smaller dormers on the Old Post Office. The cottages are small and originally timber-framed, forming an L-shaped block. The south elevation of the Old Post Office section has one storey and an attic, with two windows and casement openings. The doorways are plain. Group value is derived from their contribution to the street scene.
