Description
Carpenters Cottage is a house that dates from the 17th century, with early 19th century and 20th century alterations. The walls are made of brickwork in Flemish bond with blue headers, showcasing two phases of construction: the earlier phase features rubbed flat arches, while the later phase has cambered arches at the ground floor and a plinth. The roof is hipped and thatched, extending forward to create a lower eaves above the porch. This is a lobby-entrance house with timber-framed origins, which was reclad in the 18th century and extended in the early 19th century. The windows are casements, including one filled window and a filled doorway, and there is a 20th century brick porch.
