Description

Kitcombe House is a late 18th-century house with late 19th-century additions. The front (east) elevation is symmetrical and comprises two storeys and five windows. It has a hipped slate roof. The walls are of brindle brickwork in a header bond, with flush red brick dressings including quoins, rubbed flat arches, a parapet with coping, a modillion cornice, a plain stone first-floor band, stone sills, and a plinth. A blind arch with a stone key sits centrally on the parapet. The windows are sash windows in reveals. A Tuscan doorcase with three-quarter plain columns stands above four steps, leading to an arched entrance with key and impost bands, a decorative fanlight, and a half-glazed door. An entrance is also located on the north side, beneath a round-headed landing window. Inside, there is a staircase from the 18th century. The rear extensions, likely replacing an earlier building, are two storeys and an attic with a tile roof, brick walls, and mostly sash windows arranged in coupled or triple form.
