Description

Bartholomew House is a pair of houses, dating from the early 19th century, situated near Lewes Castle Gate. The building has a low-pitched slate roof with a deep, flat wooden eaves soffit covered in black glazed mathematical tiles, and features central brick stacks. The front facade is three storeys high with a basement, displaying a two-window arrangement for each house. It has glazing bar sash windows; the second-floor windows are shallower than those below, and the ground floor has a single central window. Round-arched entrances are located on the left and right, each with moulded surrounds, key blocks, and impost blocks. The left entrance has a panelled door and a square-leaded fanlight above, leading up three steps. The right entrance has a lower panelled door and a plain fanlight. Arrowhead railings run between the two houses.
