Description
The Rectory is an L-shaped building constructed in 1848 by the Reverend Thomas Holland, who served as the Rector of Poynings from 1846 to 1838, following his father, the Reverend Dr. Samuel Holland, who held the position from 1807 to 1845. This two-storey structure features three windows and is faced with Roman cement. It has a string course, long and short quoins, and a wide eaves cornice. The hipped slate roof complements the design. The windows are framed with moulded architrave surrounds and retain their glazing bars, with those on the ground floor adorned with pediments above. A stone porch supported by Doric columns enhances the entrance.
