Description

Coome House is an early 19th-century house located on the east side of Malling Street, Lewes. The house is stuccoed and features a plinth, a band, and a cornice to a tall parapet, with a short balustrade on either side of the centre. End stacks are present. The centre of the parapet is broken by a central gable-pediment cross-wing, supported by two short, panelled angle pilasters. The central bay projects slightly, featuring angle pilasters above the ground floor. The house is two storeys and an attic, with a regular three-window front incorporating glazing bar sashes, the window in the gable-pediment being shorter. A bowed entrance is supported by four Greek Doric three-quarter columns, which hold a heavy entablature and a cast-iron balustrade above. The double entrance doors have tall 2/3-glazing with margin-lights.
