Description

The Mill House is a small house dating from the mid-18th century. It is located on Chilland Lane in Itchen Valley. Originally listed as Mill Cottage, it is constructed of chequerwork brick with the first floor hung with mathematical tile headers. The roof is old and covered in tiles, with tile-hung gables. The building is three bays wide and has a 20th-century single-story addition that links it to a mid-19th-century stable block to the left.

The house is two storeys and has an attic. The central entrance features a six-panel door with a three-pane rectangular fanlight and a flat hood. Each side of the entrance has a twelve-pane sash window with a rubbed brick arch. On the first floor, there are three small, flush-framed eight-pane sash windows, also with rubbed brick arches. The eaves are toothed. The roof has two hipped, two-light dormers. Symmetrical chimney stacks are present.
