Description

This is a mid-19th century vault tomb for the Jervoise family, located 40 metres northeast of the church in Chalton. The tomb features flint walls with Bath stone dressings and is designed in a Gothic style. It has two bays on the long sides and one bay at each end, each with a steep gable. The gables enclose an arched hood-mould above coupled panels that have cusped heads, along with a quatrefoil panel within the arch. The north gable displays a trefoil above a doorway, which has a shouldered head and a boarded door. The panels on the tomb contain inscriptions, with the earliest dating back to 1852.
