Description
The Lodge is a building constructed in 1840 by Thomas Hopper as one of three lodges for Stansted House. It is faced with Roman cement and features a roof that is concealed by a parapet, which has two rendered chimneystacks, each with four square chimneys. The building has two storeys, with three windows on the front and two on the sides. Architectural details include a parapet, a moulded eaves cornice, and a stringcourse. The front façade is adorned with engaged columns on high plinths flanking each window bay, and similar pilasters are present on the sides. The windows are twelve-pane sashes set within moulded architrave surrounds. The central round-headed doorway is highlighted by a keystone, impost blocks, and a round-headed door with six moulded panels.
