Description
The remains of the town walls are located behind Nos 11-16 on Keere Street in Lewes. The foundations may date back to before the Conquest, with 13th and 14th-century walls built above them. Portions of these walls are further topped by 18th and 19th-century garden walls. The structure is made of rubble stone with flint facing and red brick lacing courses. The sections above ground to the south have been heavily rebuilt. The walls continue along the north side of Southover Road. At the south-west corner of the walls, there is a gazebo in the garden of Nos 15 and 16, known as The Caprons.
