Description
Ye Olde Smugglers Inn is an L-shaped building that dates from the 17th century or earlier. The ground floor features painted brick or weather-boarding, while the upper part is tile-hung and also painted. It has a half-hipped tiled roof, and the glazing bars are intact. The entrance includes a doorway with a flat hood supported by brackets. This building is noted for containing six staircases and was reportedly the headquarters of a smuggling gang in the early 19th century.
