Description

This is a pair of early 19th-century houses located on the south side of Friar’s Walk in Lewes. The houses are constructed of grey headers with red brick quoins and dressings, featuring a flat wooden eaves soffit with paired brackets and a slate roof with end stacks. They are three storeys high with a basement. Each house has two windows, with glazing bar sashes in brick surrounds with gauged heads; the second-floor windows have shallower gauged heads than those below. A late 19th-century shopfront with arched lights and a cornice-head is located to the right of the entrances. The central entrances are paired, with panelled doors and upper glazed panels within a pilastered surround finished with a central pilaster and a sloping cornice hood. Two basement windows appear over the pavement on either side of the doors.
