Description

Nos. 18-20, Market Street is a late 17th or early 18th century house, now used as shops and a café. There is some evidence of original timber-framing, with a plastered front and a slate-hung return front on the left side. The roof is tiled, with a half-hipped section to the right and a step down at the left end. The building is two storeys high, and has a regular arrangement of four windows on the first floor to the right, with a single window to the left. A first-floor extension is present at the left end, and all windows are glazing bar sashes, except for a single margin light sash window on the far left. A 20th-century shop front is located at the left end, featuring a glazed door to the right. The centre of the ground floor has four small glazing bar sash windows, flanked by boarded doors, with a further door to the left leading to the rear. A 20th-century double shop front is on the right, with central double glazed doors.
