Description
New Lodges in Petworth Park, located on Midhurst Road, are a pair of lodges built in the mid-19th century. They have a cruciform plan and are two storeys high, each featuring one window. The lodges are constructed from coursed stone and topped with a slate roof. Each lodge has a central projection on either side, which is designed to resemble a pediment. A stringcourse runs along the building, and the windows on the first floor have segmental heads and no glazing bars. The lodges are connected on the inner side by gateways, which include one carriage gateway and two pedestrian gateways. These gateways have wooden gates set in square stone gate-piers, with the inner pair topped by ball caps.
