Description

The garden wall, which includes a milestone, is located between Tillington Cottage and Ivy House along the A272 road in Tillington. This 19th-century structure is made of Hythe sandstone rubble and stands approximately 8 feet high and 30 yards long. Incorporated into the base of the wall is an early 19th-century cast iron milestone that reads "Petworth M.H. 1 mile--Midhurst M.H. 5 miles 5 furlongs 4 rods." The wall is included for its group value context.
